Review by Therese H

Starring Hugh Bonneville, Phyllis Logan, Dominic West; Directed by Simon Curtis

Although we didn't see this film as a group, several members did go individually. For anyone who has followed the fortunes of the Crawley family through the TV series and the previous films, this was the perfect farewell. The plot was undemanding: threatened by financial disaster and social disgrace, the entire Downton household pull together and side-step both. Along the way, however, the shunning of Lady Mary by society because of her divorce was quite eye-opening.

The closing scenes tied everything together nicely by looking back at the Downton saga over the years, as well as forward to the new world opening up. For me, it was a thoroughly enjoyable way to spend an afternoon.
