The evolution of the Flamenco art form, presented by Lourdes Fernandez
Three members of our group went to see this at the Royal Centre. As the title suggests, the production led us through the history and evolution of Flamenco, aiming along the way to capture duenda or the soul of the art form.
The company of six artists (four musicians and two dancers) led us through Flamenco’s diverse cultural roots from the Arabic world, Cuba and South America to the present day. The costumes were simple and didn’t distract us from the music and dancing.
We were unsure of what to expect but the artists were outstanding and we all left having enjoyed the performance and more knowledgeable about this art form.
